A late 19th-century oxidised brass theodolite signed on the base plate GUSTAV HEYDE DRESDEN No. 2441, the telescope with rack-and-pinion focusing, adjustable cross-wires, object glass dust cap and graduated bubble level, the axis located on twin vertical supports, with the 5¼in. vertical circle and bubble level, the silvered scale divided 0°-400°, the twin vernier scales with magnifiers, one vertical support with bubble level, the enclosed horizontal circle similarly divided, the magnifiers with reflectors, on tripod attachment with tangent screw fine adjustment and three adjustable feet, in fitted pine case - 18in. (45.7cm.) high
