Lot Essay

The poem inscribed on the painting reads:

Ya o musunde kuzan ni yoru
Kokoro kan narukoto taiko ni nitari
Ashita niwa inki no mushite
Nakaba kantan no ame to naru o miru

Living deep in the lonely mountains, my mind is as calm as the ancient past. Tomorrow dense wet mist will hang over the peak, and I will watch the mist transformed to cold and heavy rain.
