Lot Essay

Shinobu was the youngest potter to receive the Japan Ceramic Society Prize in 1981 at the age of 31. This set was completed around 1980. He is a third-generation potter whose work is influenced by his study of Southern and Northern Song-dynasty ceramics. His pottery is included in museum collections worldwide.
