Edo period (18th-19th century)
Set into a footed carrying tray and comprising two tapered cylindrical incense burners with silver covers pierce-carved with blossoming flowers, and a small hexagonal covered incense burner, all with silver liners, a lozenge-shaped and a shell-shaped three-tier stacking box with pewter rims, the set decorated with landscapes with birds and flowers, deer and clover, and pines and sea shells in gold and black hiramaki-e and gold and silver foil on a nashiji ground; the tray lacquered nashiji and the uprights and arched handle fundame; hardware on the tray carved with foiliate scroll on a nanako ground
