Orson Welles (1915-1985) the director of "Citizen Kane", is widely considered one of the most important filmmakers in history. In 1938, he produced the now-famous radio broadcast of "The War of the Worlds".

Although Ethel Merman (1908-1984) was not a classically trained singer, her self-assured brassy voice made her a beloved Broadway star. She was perhaps best known for her performances in "Annie Get Your Gun", "Gypsy" and "Anything Goes", where her perfect comedic timing and earthy, outsized voice made her legendary.
