Lot Essay

In 1995 Rover revisited the place of his birth where he had not been since he was a 'young man with whiskers'. He visited many places and returned inspired and painted the country he had not known for forty years. This place is a typical salt lake; on the left the black line represents the path of a grass fire common at the end of the dry season. The brown line and teh perimeter represents unburnt grass which stops where the salt (yellow) crusts the earth. (from the certificate)
