Lot Essay

The tomb of Lorenzo de'Medici Duke of Urbino, and the matching tomb of Guiliano, Duke of Nemours are situated in the Chapel of the Princes in Florence. Michelangelo's entirely intentional design for the chapel was for it to act as a vehicle for the exhibition of his sculptures.
