AN ACHAEMENID GREY CHALCEDONY LEOPARD FINIAL FRAGMENT
4TH CENTURY B.C.
The snarling leopard forepart emerging from a stylized lotus flower, with incised details of teeth, wearing a wide collar, remains of white glazed decoration, traces of iron attachment pin; and a Romano-Egyptian yellow-brown agate lion forepart, pouncing with forelegs extended, thick billowing mane and incised details, probably from a vessel handle, circa 2nd-3rd Century A.D.
