Lot Essay

This drawing is from an album made by Valckenborch during a journey along the Danube and in the Tyrol in 1598-9. The album was in the collection of Archduke Friedrich in Vienna, and subsequently in the Albertina until sold to the dealer Nebehay in 1920.
