Lot Essay

The mark of a large dot beneath the factory mark is that of an as yet unidentified flower painter and is known on wares dating from 1756-1757. Cf. David Peters, Decorator and date marks on C18th Vincennes and Sèvres Porcelain, privately printed, 1997, p. 88;

The mold for the present model, designed by Duplessis, is conserved in the archives of the Sèvres factory. Cf. Tamara Préaud and Antoine d'Albis, La Porcelaine de Vincennes, Paris, 1991, p. 115, no. 113.
