Lot Essay

These delicate gilt-lead girandole mirrors relate to the work of Burchard Precht, a sculptor and cabinetmaker from Bremen recorded as working at Drottningholm Palace from 1674. A pair of early 18th century girandole mirrors of similar design attributed to Precht are illustrated in T. Sylven and E. Welander-Berggren, Speglar 1650-1850, Stockholm, 2000, p. 198.
