Lot Essay

Afong (active c.1859-c.1900) was perhaps the best-known Hong Kong Chinese photographer of his time. This album, which carries his Queen's Road studio label, is comprised entirely of his photographs, including Duck Market at Sing Chang, port and figural scenes, views of Foochow, Kien Yang and the Yuen Foo river.
