Lot Essay

The flamboyant hamon at first sight gives the impression of the Ichimonji School, but the vivid sunagashi and other nie-rich activity, as well as the pronounced masame on the shinogi-ji, indicates the Hojoji School, which is the attribution on the registration certificate. The school originated with Kunimitsu of Tajima Province, who is said to have been a pupil of Soshu Sadamune. They were renowned for their nagamaki and naginata.
