Lot Essay

Few jade vases of this impressive size from this early period are recorded. Compare with another zun vase from the Qing court collection, carved in a cream-coloured jade with archaistic motifs and catalogued as dating from the Song or Yuan period, illustrated in the Jadeware (II), The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Commercial Press Hong Kong, 1995, pl. 114.
