The Emperor's admiration for both the Song glaze and shape of this vase resulted in several archaistic fanghu vases of this type to be made in the 18th century, including one in the British Museum, illustrated in Oriental Ceramics, The World's Great Collections, vol. 5, Tokyo, 1981, no. 235; another sold in these Rooms, 1 May 1995, lot 713; and a larger version sold in our New York Rooms, 18 September 2003, lot 348.
