A RARE AND FINE LARGE CLOISONNE ENAMEL GILT-BRONZE CIRCULAR TRIPOD 'DRAGON' DISH
FIRST HALF OF THE 18TH CENTURY
Supported on three broad gently splayed bracket feet pierced with archaistic taotie-masks, the slightly concave base rising to wide flared sides and with an upturned and everted rim, enamelled in the centre of the interior with a pair of blue two-clawed chilong amongst leafy scrolling stems bearing flowering lotus, below eight further lotuses around the well in alternating colours of pink, purple, blue and yellow, each supporting one of the Eight Buddhist Emblems, and a band of ruyi lappets around the rim, the exterior with a similar lotus scroll above green honeycomb diaper pattern containing blue flowerheads on the underside
