Lot Essay

Ilana Goor was born in Israel where she attended the Bezalel School of Art in Jerusalem which was co-founded by her grandfather. She began sculpting in Los Angeles in the late 1960s and presented a one woman show at the Los Angeles State museum in 1972. During her life she has been requested to install statues in major public locations and exhibited her works in museums throughout Europe, America, Japan and Israel. In 1983, Ilana started designing jewellery which was sold throughout the USA and Japan. Lot 216 represents one of her jewels strongly influenced by her scuptural background. In 1995, Ilana established the 'Ilana Goor Museum' in Old Jaffa, Israel, which exhibits an extensive variety of her work including sculptures, jewellery, and iron furniture from different periods and themes.
