CHASSENEUX, Barthélemy de (1480-1541). Catalogus gloriae mundi, Frankfurt: S. Feyerabend, 1579. 2° (339 x 217mm). Title printed in red and black with woodcut device of Fame, 12 folding engraved plates by Jost Amman, a few woodcut emblematic illustrations. (F2, c4 and g4 with text mutilated by the censor but sill legible, censor's ms notes on verso of title, dated 1614, a few plates with clean repaired tears, some browning and waterstaining.) Contemporary Spanish limp vellum, remains of ties. Later edition of this interesting encyclopaedia treating of the nobility and dignities of men and women, law, knighthood and military orders, the sciences and arts, professions, celestial sciences etc., the first edition to have plates engraved by Jost Amman.
