TWO ROMAN BRONZE RAMS
CIRCA 2ND-3RD CENTURY A.D.
Each standing on an integral rectangular plinth, with a thick layered fleece and large backward-curving horns, one with its head turned to the right, one to the left, their symmetry suggesting that they once flanked a figure of a deity, perhaps the god Mercury, guardian of the flocks
Each: 1¼ in. (3.2 cm.) long (2)
