A fine and historical Dutch silver inkstand

Rectangular, on four tapering acanthus feet, the openwork border pierced with hexagons and reeded rim, fitted with two circular silver holders for a vase-shaped inkwell decorated with ram's heads and guirlandes, detachable openwork high-domed cover and a similar sander, the centre fitted with a wick-holder on domed and fluted foot rising to a column stem, plain circular holder with beaded rim, the centre engraved with the coat-of-arms of Breda and inscription Civitatis Bredae Magistratus Adreano Oomen Teteringa Bredano Primam in Philosophicisoronam faiisto omini capessenti, Decreto Publico, DD MDCCLXX, marked on base
