Lot Essay

This artist studied at the Schadow School in Düsseldorf, then in Munich. In 1840 he came to Paris to work with P.Delaroche and Gleyre. After travelling to Venice he returned to Munich where he had some noted success with his portraits. The Museum of Mayence houses many of his works.
