Lot Essay

Trained at the Academy of Venice, Dell'Acqua concentrated on historical subjects and portraiture. His patrons included Arch-Duke Jean of Austria and the Emperor Maximilien, who commissioned him to decorate the interior of the Miramar Palace (1858-1866). Museums in Anvers, Brussels and Trieste have conserved his works.
