Lot Essay

The design of these wall-lights is inspired by Jean-Charles Delafosse's engraving published in his Nouvelle Iconologie, Paris, 1768. Executed in both two and three-branches, 18th Century examples of this model are illustrated in H. Ottomeyer, P. Pröschel et al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, figs. 3.9.6-7.
