The interior with an iron-red tiger and with a dragon entwined about bamboo and prunus among scattered flowerheads, the exterior with Sulkowsky ozier-moulding between gadrooned rims (minute surface scratches)

Lot Essay

A pair of similarly-decorated oval basket-moulded bowls, with waved rims, originally from the collection of the Marquess of Exeter, were sold in these Rooms, 13th July 1959, lot 45, and are now in the collection of Colonial Williamsburg; see John C. Austin, Chelsea Porcelain at Williamsburg (Williamsburg, 1977), p. 59, no. 39.
