CIRCA 1735, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK, DREHER'S INCISED THREE CIRCLES
The oviform body, curved spout and scroll handle of octagonal section, the handle with a gilt leaf thumbpiece and painted below with indianische Blumen, each side of the body decorated by C.F. Herold with Orientals at various pursuits on gilt and Böttger-lustre strapwork supports with diaper panels and scrolls flanked by red and purple foliage scrolls and suspending tasselled swags below, surrounded by sprays of indianische Blumen in the Kakiemon palette, a bouquet below the spout and a butterfly between the handle terminals, below a Laub-und-Bandelwerk border and moulded rim with a gilt band (cover lacking, hairline crack from rim into gilt border, areas of wear to gilding of tip of spout, thumbpiece, border and supports)
