CIRCA 1740, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK, GILDER'S S. MARK
The front painted with a river-landscape with two huntsmen and horses and a fine schloss, within an elaborate gilt and dark-brown strapwork cartouche with diaper and scale ornament panels, centred below by a FB monogram and surmounted above by a gilt shell enclosing a coloured coat of arms flanked by blue and red mantling issuing from a winged helmet, the double-scroll handle with a gilt shell thumbpiece, flanked by small bouquets and a flower-spray disguising a rim chip, the interior with a gilt shell and interlocking foliage border (restored rim chip to left of arms, handle and rim with slight wear to gilding)
