A large gem set and enamel silver kovsh
unrecorded maker's mark VK, St. Petersburg, 1908-1917, with scratched inventory number 4637
Oval, on spreading foot, the lower section of the body repoussé and engraved en trompe l'oeil as nailed planks, a plain band above with four hinged rings at intervals, the convex upper section set with a ruble coin-period of Empress Anna, partly enamelled in translucent red, within a border of repoussé and engraved scrolling foliage set with red and blue stones on matt stippled ground with curled prow and angular handle set with pink hardstone cabochon marked under base
