A Queen Anne silver tankard
Mark of Nathaniel Lock, London, 1711
Cylindrical on circular foot and with reeded and moulded borders, with scroll handle, the hinged flat cover with shaped lip and scroll thumbpiece, the body engraved with a coat-of-arms, the handle with initials 'I*A P', marked on body, cover and handle

The arms are those of Slaughter of Cheyney Court, co. Hereford, with a cadency mark for the fourth son, impaling Colborne. Francis Slaughter, the fifth son of Bellingham Slaughter Esq., of Cheyney Court, co. Hereford, became the forth surving son on the death of his unmarried brother 1727. It is possible that these are his arms however the maiden name of his wife is not recorded in surviving pedigrees of the family.
