A Japanese hardwood and brass-mounted striking pillar clock (shaku dokei), 19th century
Formerly with hood and with front to dummy drawer, with pierced and engraved silk-backed foliate sound frets to the sides, the movement with part baluster pillars, the weight-driven movement with verge and balance escapement, the weight with integral strike on bell, mounted with a hand indicating the time on a brass scale with adjustable hours -- 17in. (44cm.) high
