A large mahogany, marquetry inlaid and brass-mounted longcase organ clock
The substantial case with arched hood with side doors and gilt painted decorative pipes, the front angles with two tiers of brass stop-fluted pilasters, the satinwood-banded trunk door inlaid with an oval reserve depicting musical trophies, the sides with inset brass stop-fluted columns with Corinthian capitals, on plinth with moulded panel and stepped base, the 11in. square brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour and diamond half quarter markers, matted centre with subsidiary seconds (lacking hand) and ringing to the winding holes and date aperture, later steel hands, the eight day movement with five ringed pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell (lacking), with 18in. long pinned wooden music cylinder and bellows playing five tunes on wooden pipes, with repeat/change and silent levers to the sides; movement and dial English early 18th century, organ adapted from a street barrel organ, second half 19th century, case second half 19th century with adapted hood -- 101¼in. (257cm.) high
