FIRST EDITION. Distinguished both by Wandelaar's magnificent copies of the original plates (first prepared in 1552 by Eustachi and the artist Pier Matteo Pini, to illustrate an anatomical work entitled De dissensionibus ac controversiis anatomicis) and by the set of outline plates devised to explain them. "This particular method of explaining a drawing was one of the most valuable contributions made to medical illustration by Albinus and Wandelaar" (Herrlinger History of Medical Illustration, p. 134).
