A pair of late Victorian vases
on pierced and cast floral and foliate-decorated shaped circular bases, the swollen bodies decorated with fluting, birds, flowers and foliage, the upper parts of the bodies with gadrooned rims and lion's mask and ring-drop handles, each chased with a vignette of a musician playing a pipe to his paramour, the couple seated beneath a tree, the reverses with vacant C-scroll cartouches, maker's marks indistinct, probably D.& J. Wellby, London 1901 - 7in. (17.75cm.), 25.25oz.
