A 19th century diamond and ruby brooch
of Maltese cross design, the upper and lower arms set with a single pear-cut ruby with old brilliant-cut diamond surround, the left and right with a pear-shaped old brilliant-cut diamond with diamond surround, the central diamond circular cluster with diamond five stone cluster divisions, in gold and silver mount, circa 1870, with later brooch fitting, in later fitted case, accompanied by Gem Identification Report for the rubies, number 976048, from The Precious Stone Laboratory, London, dated 27 October, 2004, stating one ruby to weigh 2.72 carats, the other 2.61 carats, both were found to be natural with no evidence of heat treatment being detected, country of origin is Mogok, Burma.
