AUGUSTINUS, Aurelius (354-430, Saint). De civitate Dei. Venice: Bonetus Locatellus for Octavianus Scotus, 9 February 1486/87.

Super-chancery 4° (234 x 164mm). Gothic type, initial spaces, some with guide-letter, MS index on last 3 pages. (Some browning and staining, small hole in 3 leaves, a few marginal wormholes.) Half old blindstamped goatskin over wooden boards, a remboîtage (rubbed, a few wormholes). Provenance: Gabriel Butigarius, Carmelite monk (early ownership inscription) -- Alexander ?Franciscus (early monastic inscription) -- Franciscus Bocchius, inscription dated 1573 -- B.B. Curlosi (ownership inscription) -- Florence, G. Gallotti (stamp).
