Lot Essay

This bed-form is crowned by a Grecian urn-capped dome and relates to one executed about 1780 by the celebrated French court 'menuisier' Georges Jacob (d.1814); and displayed by George IV at Windsor Castle in the 1820s (H. Roberts, For the King's Pleasure, London, 2001, p.198).
