Lot Essay

The distinctive projecting angles and simple metal handles and escutcheons are characteristic of Genoese cabinet furniture; with similarities to a bureau cabinet and commode illustrated in Il Mobile del Settecento, Italia, Documenti d'Antiquariato, pp.48-49, and a bureau cabinet from the Estate of the Late Giuseppe Rossi, sold on 10th March 1999 by Sotheby's, London, lot 193, illustrated Vol I, p.266.
