Lot Essay

The mirror frame, flowered and fretted in the George II 'picturesque' or 'Chippendale' manner of the 1750s, relates to one at Tyttenhanger illustrated in R. Edwards, The Shorter Dictionary of English Furniture, London, 1964 (p. 365, fig. 46).
