Lot Essay

The distinctive feature of graduated small raised panels are often found in cupboards from Cardigan where the joinery is of high quality. See Twiston-Davies and Lloyd-Johnes Welsh Furniture. Cardiff 1950, figure 84.
The rich red colour may have been created by the application of the plant based stain, 'Dragons Blood'.
