Signed Jean Fazy, à St. Petersbourg, No. 150. First quarter 19th century
The frosted gilt going barrel movement with plain steel three-armed balance, virgule escapement, repeating hours and quarters à toc by depressing the pendant, with gilt signed and numbered dust cover, the white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, quarter-hour marks, outer calendar ring with central calendar hand, gold decorative hands, in gold engine turned case, the back centred by an engraved monogram, the winding hole in the back cover opened by a button in the band, with engine turned rim and bezel, dial and movement signed

Obtained from Earl Hackett, 6 November, 1965.

Jean Fazy is recorded as being born in Moscow in 1735 and worked there until 1765. Another Jean Fazy is recorded working in Stockholm in 1760 and yet another, working in Geneva in the second half of the 18th century. It may be one and the same person.
