An Austrian walnut grand sonnerie bracket clock
Aloÿs Preÿsing, Nüsdorf. Late 18th Century
The case with foliate cast mount to the inverted bell top flanked by urn finials, glazed sides, the moulded base on foliate cast bracket feet, gilt crenelated mouldings to the break-arch dial with applied Arabic chapter ring signed Aloÿs Preÿsing in Nüsdorf, pierced brass hands, lacking calendar hand for the inner concentric calendar ring, foliate spandrels, the foliate engraved arch with central enamel vignette painted with a landscape of a lake and hilltop castle, flanked by enamel disks repetirt/nicht/schlagt, mother-of-pearl false pendulum, the eight day movement with conical shaped pillars, chain fusee for the going train with verge escapement, going barrels for grand sonnerie strike with two bells
