A Maltese painted wood wall timepiece
Attributed to Pisani, Malta. Late 18th Century
The case redecorated with a dark green ground embellished with gilt foliage, the detachable arcaded cresting surmounted by a turned giltwood ball-and-spire finial above a crest, convex moulded glazed door to the rectangular wood dial painted with flowers on a cream ground, Roman chapter ring with decorative foliate half-hour markers and single pierced steel hand and with further flowers painted to the centre, the simple movement with four back-pinned pillars, inverted anchor escapement to the three wheel train with power from an indirect pulley system secured to the top of the dial
