Late 19th Century
The large gilt-brass movement with turned brass baluster columns to each angle, skeletonised front plate pierced and engraved with chrysanthemums, verge escapement with front swinging pendulum, the trunk fixed with a large engraved brass hour scale with silver chapters and blued steel half-hour markers, the foliate pierced hour hand descending with the weight with integral strike train with countwheel strike on a bell, the case with key drawer to base, gilt-brass foliate pierced silk-backed sound frets to the sides, the detachable hood with sliding front compartment
