A GEORGE II MAHOGANY BUREAU-CABINET
SECOND QUARTER 18TH CENTURY
The triangular pediment with dentilled cornice and fluted frieze above a pair of panelled doors enclosing three adjustable shelves, the bureau section with a flap enclosing a fitted interior with pigeon-holes and drawers, the central pigeon-hole with a pierced gothic arch, above four graduated drawers, the uppermost drawer mahogany-lined with a green baize-lined slide and fitted with a mirror and divisions, the right side enclosing a mahogany-lined writing-drawer with divisions, on later ogee bracket feet, the reverse with Jolly & Son, Bath depository label inscribed in pencil 'Gamgee', the handles replaced, the lowest row of interior drawers altered, probably indicating a change of heart at the time of construction
