Burns was, until 1914, one of England's best-known Trade Union leaders and socialist politicians; from 1905 onwards he made common cause with the Liberal Party, achieving cabinet rank, but was regarded by Labourites as a traitor to their cause. Part I is comprised of his collection of books on London; part II, books relating to Sir Thomas More; and part III, various subjects. (3)
