The library of Charles de Bulteau, taken over by him from his brother Louis, contained about 10,000 works including manuscripts, maps, and a significant number of English books. The catalogue is prefaced by an 8-page account, in Latin, of Bulteau and his library, but does not contain the list of books withdrawn from the sale in accordance with a law of 1711 forbidding the sale of banned books.
