PRICED in a contemporary hand. The fifth Duc de Charost (the third to bear the name Armand) was equally famous as an economist and as a bibliophile. Born immensely rich, he adopted the ideas of the Revolution and did not emigrate, but in the end narrowly escaped the Terror; in 1799 Bonaparte made him mayor of the tenth Arrondissement of Paris, where he died in 1800.
