PALM, Johann Jacob (1750-1826) -- Verzeichnis seines dermaligen Vorrathes älterer und neuerer Bücher aus allen Wissenschaften nach alphabetischer Ordnung. Erlangen: Johann Jacob Palm, 1809-1812.

6 volumes, 8o (193 x 120 mm). Contemporary marbled paper boards, glazed blue paper spine labels, uncut (light chipping and splitting to spine ends and edges).

The vast six-volume catalogue of approximately 30,000 current and second-hand books, each individually priced in the currency of Saxony, and alphabetically arranged (Vol. I: A-D, &c.), published by one of the most enterprising German booksellers and publishers of his time, J.J. Palm. As a publisher he edited almost eight hundred titles. He was the uncle and professional teacher ("Lehrherr") of Johann Philip Palm (1766-1806) who became even more famous as the victim of Napoléon I, who had him executed in Braunau for having distributed an anonymous pamphlet, probably by a relative of his, P.C.G. Yelin, attacking Napoléon's rule and the princes of the Rheinland, entitled Deutschland in seiner tiefen Erniederung (Germany in Her Deep Degradation). (6)
