ZWEIG, Stefan (1881-1942) -- Heinrich HINTERBERGER. Repräsentative Original-Handschriften. Eine berühmte Autographen-Sammlung. I. Teil. Katalog IX. Vienna: Hinterberger, [1936]. -- [Bound with:] Interessante Autographen aus zwei bekannten Sammlungen. Katalog XX. Vienna: Hinterberger, [1937]. -- [With:] Autographen und historische Dokumente. Im Nachtrag... Autographen von Schweizer Dichtern und Gelehrten. Katalog 18. Vienna: Hinterberger, [1937].
3 catalogues in 2 volumes, 8o (237 x 162 mm). Modern cloth, with the original wrappers bound in, and original printed wrappers.
These catalogues represent the only record of the vast autograph collections formed by Stefan Zweig, apart from that of those autographs presented to the British Library by his heirs. These represented the "crème" of his collection, taken out of Austria "in einem Köfferchen" (a little case), as Zweig had told Dr. Breslauer. According to his memoirs, Zweig had also presented autographs to the Vienna National Library and to Jerusalem. The first of the Hinterberger catalogues contains most certainly those autographs which Zweig wanted to sell before leaving Austria, but the other two appear to contain further items from his collection; some are repeats from the first catalogue, at increased Swiss Francs prices. Folter 838, 840, 841. (2)
