The vast scholarly library of Saxius (Sachse), born in Saxony, who was from 1752 until his death professor of classical history and antiquities at the University of Utrecht. The volumes in his library far exceeded the number of lots, as many of these contained a number of titles. The sale also contained paintings, gems, coins, and objets d'art. At the end is bound an 8-page catalogue with printed prices of the Utrecht publisher/bookseller, Wild & Altheer. Blogie IV, col. 44.
