One of 200 copies privately printed on fine paper. The catalogue of Count Boutourlin (or Buturlin), one of the most outstanding book collectors of nineteenth-century Russia. Boutourlin (or Buturlin) was a Russian soldier, military historian, politician, and librarian of the Imperial Russian Library. This catalogue documents his second library (the first was destroyed during the burning of Moscow in 1812). Boutourline formed his second library during his 15 year residence in Tuscany. Brunet considers it superior to the first collection, and it included 244 manuscripts, 1000 incunables, an almost complete collection of Aldine editions, a complete collection of books from Bodoni Press, as well as numerous other important works in the fields of theology, arts & sciences, literature and history. The catalogue was prepared by Audin, with assistance from M. Sloane. He was most likely a relative of the Florentine bookseller Audin, of Lyonese origin.
